Experience So Far.......

The students are beginning to feel exhausted and tired but motivated to complete the task. From the third day, 13,000AED was donated by students and staffs of the University. One of the participants Emmanuel is the only returning participant from 2014 said, "Very caring people and in support of the awareness, as many responded to the written notes on the boards".

"Although we faced rude and difficult individuals but looking forward into persuading them to join our cause"

Understanding the campaign and the need to raise an awareness is important to these students. "This campaign has made me know how to feel for the homeless, since the money will be going to charity in different countries". Jude also mentioned how amazing it has been seeing silly movements and persuading skills to make people donate.

Written on one of the boards, "I may be asking for money, but what i really need is CHANGE"

2015 Five Days IS BACK!!!!

Hello everyone. Students from the Canadian University Dubai will be raising money and awareness for the Homeless. Stating the rules again:

The Campaign, which is governed by the below mentioned rules, is fairly simple:
1. Have no income.
2. Have no food or drinks (unless through direct donations).
3. Have only a pillow and a sleeping bag
4. Have no access to showers, or facilities to which their student status would usually grant them access.
5. Sleep outside.
6. Attend all classes.
7. Avoid personal communication mediums (cellphones, laptops, tablets etc.).
8. Write about their experiences (and post them up here).

*Note: While the objective of the campaign is to raise awareness for the Dubai Women and Children Shelter by staying on campus, that is not the only way you can help.

YOU can help as well by making donations and by supporting the participants.

Back Again

"Homeless again in almost a week" , that is what I am telling my family and friends. It is an odd thing to say, especially with excitement. I participated last year and found that as tiring as it is and as humiliating as it gets at points, in fact it is very rewarding on an individual level and on a social level. It is one of those odd ways of making a change in the world. I wont make this post long, I would just like to state that we have more participants this year than the last which means we made a change and I just hope we get more support so we would be able to help those in need. After all we might not be the cause of their troubles, but we could still be part of the solution.

WE ARE BACK AGAIN, 2014 FIVE DAYS FOR THE HOMELESS
