2014 Emmanuel Ekpod Ojumiri

I’m Emmanuel Ekpod Ojumiri born and brought up in Nigeria. I turned 25 on the 15th of January this year. I’m a full time student in Canadian University of Dubai. I’m majored in Public Relations in Mass Communication. I stepped in the United Arab Emirates since 2011 and I live in the emirate of Dubai.
The reason why I’m taking part in this charity and voluntary event is that for the past years I have been hearing of the term homeless. I was wondering the meaning of the word homeless, though I know its meaning. I was looking for a way to that I can experience what the homeless people are experiencing, I’m happy to participate in this event under the control of Canadian University of Dubai. I’m sure it going to be an educational experience because I will be able to expatiate vividly what the homeless people are experiencing on the street during hot and cold seasons. I’m glad in creating its awareness with my colleagues and Dubai Women and Children Shelter in Canadian University of Dubai.

DAY 1

Day 1 was full of experience and funny. The students I meant were very friendly and welcoming. Some smiles and a lot of awkward stares...Looking forward to night one! hope its not too cold...

DAY 2

I remain Emmanuel Ojumiri. To be honest, this is my first to participate on the 5 days under the supervision of Canadian University of Dubai. Day 1 night was really cold because it was dew over the night. My experience was pretty funny. I occupied the middle of my sleeping bed. When I wanted to roll to the left hand side of the foam, I felt there is something wrong. It was wet and I tried the same thing to the right in other to balance up my body but I couldn't because both sides were wet. The homeless people need homes. I may be asking for money but what I really want is CHANGE FROM HOMELESS TO HOME. Let's accommodate the homeless people.

DAY 3
We've been doing well since the beginning of the DAY 1.  The experiences from DAY1 and DAY2  are lessons learned by putting myself in the same shoes with the homeless people. It got to my knowledge that the homeless people really need home for survival. Sleeping outside home is an experience for me as a first timer. I felt insecure because I'm accustomed of locking my door  before going to the bed.  Sympathize the homeless people provide for them clothe and feed them.
